Philosophy of Physical Education

My philosophy for any level of physical education is to create an environment where students can comfortably express their likes, interest, and creativity through movement-based activities. Students should experience activities, which push them outside of their comfort zone, to only realize they were able to accomplish a task they couldn’t accomplish before walking into my classroom. A problem is nothing but a mental hurdle and it is my passion to encourage students to see past these obstacles.

Elementary physical education plays a crucial role in a child's physical, cognitive, and social-emotional development. Students grow exponentially from novice movers to competent movers in an incredibly short period of time. Throughout these years, it is essential for students to develop a solid foundation of gross locomotor, non-locomotor, manipulative, and non-manipulative movement patterns. Elementary students must participate in traditional sports-based activities, non-traditional activities, competitive and non-competitive activities as well as individual activities. Bridging this gap from being a novice mover to a competent mover for a youngster is a true passion of mine which can be witnessed through an exciting, enthusiastic, but structured learning environment.

As an educator, it is essential to always aspire to be better in all facets of teaching. It is always a personal goal to be more efficient, but not sacrifice quality when instructing students. Clear, concise, but detailed-oriented instructions to enable my students to move as much as possible are of the utmost importance to me and should be at the forefront of every class.
